About

Never, ever plain

It reads like a motto. It is closer to a rule. A scarf is the one thing you wear that is allowed to have an opinion, and at Baroque it always does.

Every design is chosen, not settled for. Erica Perryman curates each one from a studio in Australia, working to a place, a palette and a temperament, so that a collection reads as one world rather than a set of separate ideas. Nothing arrives by accident.

The design is then printed on pure silk twill, linen or wool, and every hem is rolled by hand. Nothing is mass produced and nothing is designed by committee. What arrives at your door is a piece of artwork you can knot at your neck.

Small runs

Three to five at a time

Every design is printed in a run that small. Not three thousand, not three hundred. It keeps every piece close to the studio, and it means the odds of meeting yourself at a party are slim.

When a run sells out, a favourite can sometimes be re-ordered, so if the one you wanted has gone, it is always worth asking.

Never Plain

The exception that proves it

There is, admittedly, a collection of single colour scarves. We could not bring ourselves to call them plain, so we did not. They are Never Plain: one colour, chosen properly, cut and finished exactly like everything else. The rule stands. It simply has a sense of humour about itself.

Collections arrive through the year, each with its own place, palette and temperament. Alongside them sits the linen, the children's range, and the small silk pieces cut from the same design. Different rooms, one house.

Nobody needs a scarf. That is exactly the point. Treat yourself, or someone you quietly adore, and it arrives wrapped in Baroque tissue and sealed with the Baroque sticker, always.
